Billy Brag's Got A New Bag!

Billy Brag Kicks Off New Tour At SBSW

Folk punk godfather Billy Bragg is releasing his first record in five years on March 19 through Cooking Vinyl.

Tooth & Nail will be available on CD, vinyl, and a limited edition CD/DVD collector's item which includes a 36-page book full of essays and pictures by Bragg himself. Recorded in just five days with Americana man Joe Henry, Bragg's vocals were recorded raw, with no overdubs or retakes. A host of talented artists accompany Bragg on the album, including Greg LeiszDavid Piltch, Jay Bellerose, and Patrick Warren.

The album will be Bragg's tenth studio album and follows 2008's Mr. Love & Justice. Though usually synonymous with political pieces, Bragg says that this album is more introspective. "Most people, when they hear my name, think of polemical anthems born in struggle," Bragg said. "I often find myself having to remind people that I am also the Sherpa of Heartbreak, writing songs about the struggle to maintain our relationships with those we love the most."

Bragg will also be embarking on a North American tour, beginning with SXSW on March 3 and hitting up LA, Seattle, Vancouver, Calgary, Chicago, Nashville, Annapolis, and NYC, before wrapping up in Ann Arbor on May 1.

Bragg has also made the beautiful bluesy-folk "Handyman Blues," a new single from the album, available for free download. For full tour dates, pre-ordering info, and the free single, Bragg's website is the place to be.
