Happy New Year Seattle! Shows And Special Places To Be New Year's Eve

There's no lack of great bands playing on New Year's Eve in the Seattle area -- here are a few recommendations in case you have not made plans yet!

Not only will this Walking Papers show be special to the loyal fans of the band, but for the band themselves, this will be historical. Legendary Guns n' Roses bass player, Duff McKagan, who plays bass in Walking Papers, will get to see his teenage daughter's band play on the same stage this New Year's Eve, and with a few very special guests -- one is rumored to be local teen rocker Jason Kerston. Grace and her band The Pink Slips have not played out much yet, so fans and family alike are very excited about this.

If you're up north of Seattle, The Jet will be hosting a great party with some of the best bands in Seattle: The Mothership, Atomic Ballroom, and Lady Justice. These are the bands that everyone in Seattle is keeping a close eye on. If I wasn't committed to the Walking Papers, I'd be going to this! Check out our Grunge Story Teller blog for a nice write-up on The Mothership, and check out our youtube channel (xana land) for great live videos of all three of these bands. If you live up north, this is the place to be -- it's a fairly small club, though, so be sure to arrive early!

Oh jeeze, I guess I just fibbed -- what can I say? There is so much great new music in Seattle, on New Year's Eve, one is bound to be torn on where to go, but The Guessing Game always puts on a great show, and if you live in Seattle and have not been to Slim's Last Chance Saloon, well then something's wrong with you!

Here is a video I shot of them recently doing a Pink Floyd cover for the 11th Annual Musicare Benefit at The Tractor Tavern:

We try not to miss a live moment of the amazing Kathy Moore. Joining them are more Seattle favorites, The F-Holes and The Dolly Rottens, so if you're in the SODO area and have no plans, this is the place to be!

Some very good friends of ours and some of the kindest, talented, and wonderful people, The Disco Cowboys, will be entertaining at The Feedback Lounge in West Seattle. They are always a blast, so if you're in West Seattle and still deciding what to do, then problem solved!

And last but certainly not least, some other extremely talented guys, some of which I also lovingly refer to as Seattle's "White Boy Heaven" boys, will be rocking Flight's Pub in Everett Washington. It should be great fun, and I'm truly sad to miss them -- these are just the kind of fun guys any serious rocker wants to be with on New Year's Eve!

Have a wonderful and safe night wherever you end up, and if you're done rocking out by midnight, The Space Needle will be setting off the fireworks at midnight, best seen up at Kinny Park on Queen Anne, or from any park around Lake Union, which just happens to be by 13 Coins * wink wink *

A wise word for the young and wild

Remember although she made it look glamorous, alcohol may have contributed to Marilyn Monroe's death, please drink responsibly, meaning if you're not supposed to be drinking ( you know who you are-Sancho )... then don't.
