The English Beat Comes to Seattle~ SKA!

The English Beat is one of those bands that formed my taste in music as they were one of my favorite bands in high school. While most of my friends were driving to Albuquerque to see Journey (a show I actually wanted to go to but was stood up for), I was hanging out with my older brother's friends listening to The Beat!  The best part was that I got to hear their songs performed live by my brother's band, The Blenderz, a local band in Santa Fe that played to play and partied till the sun came up.

I was 14 and looked about 21. Luckily for me, I could get in to see them at Club West! Ha ha, only New Mexicans will realize how charming this story really is!  I confess I still LOVE this song!

When I moved to Seattle, I found few friends that were into SKA -- in fact, the friends I did make could barely tolerate my music taste, but I think at least The Beat grew on some of them!  They truly take me to a happy place where I can still dance and I'm young enough and pretty enough to flail around like I just don't care!  I really hope there are lots of young new fans at this show!
You can buy your tickets right here for the show at Seattle's Showbox in the Market this Friday the 21st of February on~ Xanaland's Worldwide Ticket page, just click on this image!

Watch Vaudeville Etiquette's Album Pre~Release Show Via Free Live Stream & See Them Live on King 5 New Day Northwest!

That's right kittens! If you cannot attend the live show at The Tractor, then you can watch it right here on our ' Live Performance ' page and also see them on King 5 Friday morning at 11:00 am Seattle time. You can also get free studio tickets Thursday morning by contacting newdaytickets@king5.com

We had the pleasure of seeing Vaudeville Etiquette at The Sunset Tavern a few weeks ago, performing Fleetwood Mac's ' Rumors '  and it was quite something, probably one of the liveliest shows I've seen in a while. The also recently opened for Walking Papers at Jazzbone's in Tacoma, which we sadly missed. So those of us that haven not seen them performing their own tunes are quite anxious and excited. Come on down to The Tractor Tavern in Ballard Friday night the 21st and celebrate the upcoming release of Debutantes & Dealers due for release on April 15th. The 300 people in attendance will have a chance to buy the CD two months early!

Also performing are The Swearengens , who call their music ' Vampire Country ' ,  ( this should be interesting, I've been dying to wear my new garlic necklace and veneer fangs ) and The Weatherside Whiskey Band, their name tells you if your on the wagon-- be careful, things may get slippery! I've had the privilege of filming many times in Ballard and I can say from experience filming every weekend for 2 years, that it's probably the best neighborhood at this time for music lovers, the entire community is filled with good eats and great live music on weekends, and I can also tell you this is where most of the cool kids in Seattle will be this weekend! So join us, or join us by tuning into the free live stream.

Here's a Chihuahua Not Caring About Your Facebook Problems~ A Message to Friends of Xanaland!

It would be so nice if something made sense for a change

Alice in Wonderland

Poor Charo! All she wants is a taco!

To all of my subscribers, thanks for your time and dedication. I know my temporary absence from Facebook on my personal timeline does not dissuade most people as we are all a community of artists and musicians who seek nothing else but to support each other and live a semi~virtuous life.

I know what you're thinking! The monkey has gone bezerk!
No, it's just time to make some much needed changes

I do, however, have my own obligations to my supporters to hold some standards, and while we never expect payment for providing free live streaming or for taking photos or video -- we do however ask that if you're a 'friend' on Facebook, that you subscribe to this or one of the other 20 blogs. You can also follow Xanaland on our Facebook pages, twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, Google+, and of course youtube . I simply can't keep up with 2400 friends, and also do what I need to do to archive and document music and shenanigans properly! So I will be adding subscribers, longtime/good friends and family to my personal timeline only once it's back up in a few days. I hope everyone understands!

Thank you and I look forward to having all of the wonderful like-minded and creative people in my life that have helped build this wonderful cyber world we call Xanaland migrate to the pages and blogs so that we can properly archive all our best almost famous moments~all while maintaining our medium gorgeous appearance--of course!
